I’ve been reading Mark Carwardine’s excellent book on photographing garden birds (link) and it prompted me to move our bird feeders to a different spot in the garden.

We moved an old trellis from the far side of the garden to just outside the lounge window and the feeders now hang from a large bamboo pole, it’s the perfect position to watch them whilst sitting on the sofa in the bay window.

I’ve been able to sit on the sofa with a 200mm lens and get some nice photos, the only setback is that the dogs like to jump onto the sofa to watch the birds as well!

Here’s one of the Nuthatches that visit regularly (there’s a nesting pair just over the road in the school grounds) and a Dunnock which has just started turning up.
