Apologies for being a bit slow on the updates with the project but I’ve been so busy taking photographs and working on my Uni coursework that I’ve neglected the website updates.
A Brief Recap: My aim is to produce a series of photographs (for exhibition and an accompanying book) that captures the Steampunk culture as it is at this moment. It is a young culture that is still finding its feet in the ‘real world’ and not just the literary world where it has existed for many years. It is developing its own styles of costume and design which will in time change. It is this ‘moment in time’ that I want to capture as a record of Steampunk’s beginnings, hence the name ‘Steampunk Now’.
I’ve been to several functions so far and I’m building up my library of images documenting the people and their styles to use in the project. I have just over a hundred photographs that I feel are right for the project and I’ve been working on designs for the prints and book for the exhibition.
I’ve also produced a set of Steampunk inspired business cards (without cogs!) for when I attend events and functions. You can find more information about them on the blog.
The books designs take inspiration from work by Horst Friedrichs and Bruce Gilden. I’ve also been experiment with ideas on how I plan to print and hang the photographs for the exhibition.
Anyway, many thanks for coming back to see how the project is going. Any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. The easiest way is to send a message direct to me via the contact page.
As before, I’ll be using this page the main project updates and blog listings, so make sure you come back and check for updates!
