I was just reading a Facebook post by the author Sarah Hilary about posing for photographs and she said “I was simply told to avoid brick walls (as back drops) and to smile sweetly.”.

Now, some of you who know me will know that one of my favourite expressions when asking for photographs is “Can I have you against the wall?

And then add “… to photograph”. This comment oft gets some wry grins and more often than not breaks the ice and nervousness of the person in front of the camera, making them more relaxed and I’m able to get a good photograph. Thinking about it, I don’t believe I’ve ever had a bad reaction to the comment and everyone seems to laugh and joke about it.

Anyway, I thought I’d just post a few of the “Against the wall?” photographs and let you decide if walls are a good or a bad thing…
